We’re from the government; we’re here to help you

Thirteen armed agents swooped down on an animal shelter to kill a baby deer. The fawn had been brought to the shelter after she appeared to have been abandoned by her mother. The shelter nursed her back to health then planned to release her to a wildlife preserve the next day.

But state law forbids the possession of wildlife, even when good people are trying to save its life, so what did the government agents do? They killed it. They tranquilized it, carried it away, then “euthanized” it.

Words fail me.
