The 80th anniversary of the end of prohibition

Today (Dec. 5, 2013) is the 80th anniversary of the end of Alcohol Prohibition. It started with good intentions, but the results were a disaster.

  • alcohol consumption went up
  • the industry went underground
  • violent crime spiked
  • the prison population grew
  • people died from homemade dangerous product

Prohibition, whether for alcohol or for drugs, makes a bad problem much worse.
