Americans Own Nearly Half of the Privately Owned Guns on Earth

That’s awesome! (as Glenn Reynolds says) In less than 20 years the number has grown from about 200 million to almost 300 million guns in the U.S. With Obama as the best gun salesman in history, it might not be long until we have one gun for every man, woman, and child.

The more that law-abiding citizens are armed to protect themselves, their families, their communities, the more that criminals know that fact, the more those criminals will fear the innocent citizens around them and the safer those law-abiding citizens will be.

Goodbye Full-Time Jobs, Hello Part-Time Jobs, R.I.P. Middle Class

That headline (credit Michael Snyder) is a good summary of the June job report. Another good summary is this tweet from David Burge (Iowahawk):

Unemployment report in a nutshell: the Taco Bell that had 30 40 hour workers now has 40 30 hour workers.

Part-time work surged to an all-time high of 28 million. But full-time work lost 240,000 jobs. It is now 6 million below the all-time high set in 2007. The second largest employer in the country (behind only Walmart) is now the temp agency, Kelly Services.

More employment numbers from James Pethokoukis:

  • Wow, the U-6 rate (unemployed, discouraged, underemployed) surges to 14.3% from 13.8%
  • Obamacare? | Those employed part time for economic reasons increased by 322,000 to 8.2 million in June
  • 11.1%: What the US jobless rate would be if labor force participation were back to pre-recession levels
  • But using Goldman Sachs estimates that subtract demographics, 9.1% rate is more in the ballpark

14,000 wind turbines abandoned and slowly decaying

Built only for the tax credits, abandoned when the tax credits run out, why is nobody clamoring to have the mess cleaned up?

In most instances the turbines are just left as symbols of a dying Climate Religion. Nowhere have the Green Environmentalists appeared to clear up their mess or even complain about the abandoned wind farms.

More energy – mostly from fossil fuels – was consumed building these windmills then they ever produced.

Alameda County, California, reported that one wind turbine project alone killed 10,000 birds, including hundreds of eagles, owls, hawks, and falcons.

The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

In Egypt, much anti-Obama sentiment

In the protests leading to the overthrow of Egypt’s ruler Morsi, there were many anti-Obama signs, such as this one:

What is particularly interesting is that the signs are not generic anti-American signs. They oppose Obama, Hillary Clinton, and U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson.

Do as we say, not as we do

The U.S. Park Police has so mismanaged its record-keeping that nobody knows how many weapons are missing or even how many it is supposed to have. Hundreds of weapons could not be accounted for; hundreds others were not listed in inventories.

Meanwhile, of course, governments make all sorts of rules about how private citizens store and document their own weapons.

Here’s an idea: we shouldn’t let the federal government have any more weapons until it can take care of the ones it has. (credit Instapundit)

Starvation, dehydration – marvels of government-run health care

Nearly 1200 people died of starvation in Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) hospitals because “nurses are too busy to feed patients”. Four times as many suffered from dehydration. One patient was left unwashed for 11 weeks. “Patients were left begging for water.”

Similar reports:

And yet, with all the incompetence on display in our federal government, there are still some true believers who think the government should run all health care.
