In the last 20 years gun violence is way down even though most people think it is higher. Gun homicides (per 100,000 people) are down about half, non-fatal gun crimes are down to just a quarter of what they were in 1993, and property crimes are down about 60%.
Even though gun violence is down, 56% think it is higher, 26% about the same, and only 12% think it is lower.
It must be just a coincidence that gun ownership is up, and concealed carry is up. The bad guys wouldn’t be intimidated by armed citizens would they?
